BIG Takeaways from the BIG Conference

Blog Post by Summer Hsu | July 2025

Our summer intern walked into her first Basic Income Guarantee Conference expecting a room full of policy jargon and long lectures. Instead, she found parents rocking babies, students laughing with friends, and advocates trading ideas with researchers. What struck her most was the energy, everyone seemed determined to turn hope into action.

She listened as data was shared and as participants described how guaranteed income had shaped their lives. The conversations spanned education, immigration, incarceration, and gender equity, but they all came back to two themes: dignity and freedom. Her biggest takeaway was clear. Read about it here.

Why Gen-Z cares about GI

Blog Post by Summer Hsu | July 2025

Growing up today means facing a future defined by climate change, rising costs, and political division. It is hard to feel prepared when every headline seems bleak. Guaranteed income offers a different vision. By providing regular and unconditional cash, it has already shown results in places like Stockton where families used $500 a month to cover essentials and even improved their job prospects. For Gen Z, this kind of support could be game changing. It could ease pressure on our families, make college more accessible, and open doors to creative work or passion projects. Guaranteed income is not a cure all, but it is hope backed by evidence and hope is exactly what our generation needs to build a stable future.
