Guaranteed income is a bold approach to tackling poverty. In partnership with the City of Long Beach, the Fund for Guaranteed Income launched the Long Beach Pledge, a one year pilot delivering $500 per month to vulnerable households. Beyond providing direct relief, the program served as a city backed test of what good policy design can look like. Findings show measurable gains in food stability, mental health, and financial security, alongside lessons on outreach, documentation, and sustaining funding. The Long Beach Pledge demonstrates how evidence from local pilots can shape smarter, more humane policies for the future.

Growing up today means facing a future defined by climate change, rising costs, and political division. It is hard to feel prepared when every headline seems bleak. Guaranteed income offers a different vision. By providing regular and unconditional cash, it has already shown results in places like Stockton where families used $500 a month to cover essentials and even improved their job prospects. For Gen Z, this kind of support could be game changing. It could ease pressure on our families, make college more accessible, and open doors to creative work or passion projects. Guaranteed income is not a cure all, but it is hope backed by evidence and hope is exactly what our generation needs to build a stable future.
